Design

Shell-and-tube heat exchangers consist of bundles of tubes fixed in tube sheets, casings, lids, chambers, pipes, and props. The pipe and annular spaces can be separated, and each of them can be divided by partitions in several passes. The heat transfer surface of the heat exchangers can range from several hundred square centimeters to several thousand square meters.

The flow area of the annular space is 2-3 times larger than the flow area inside the pipes.
