A frozen meat flaker is used as a solution for processing frozen raw materials without prior defrosting. The machine is designed to flake frozen blocks of meat, poultry, fish, fats, butter, margarine, juice concentrates and various by-products into thin layers, preparing them for further grinding, mixing or thermal processing.
By eliminating the thawing stage, producers save processing time, reduce energy consumption and minimize the risk of product contamination. The 11 kW rotor drive with double-sharpened knives slices frozen blocks into uniform chips roughly 2 mm in size while preserving the product's structure and minimizing material losses.
From an operational cost perspective, processing frozen blocks without defrosting reduces labor requirements, eliminates thawing room capacity constraints and lowers energy consumption associated with temperature conditioning. Consistent flake size also improves raw material dosing accuracy, helping producers control the recipe, reduce overuse of expensive ingredients and maintain consistent batch yields.
Processing frozen raw materials in their solid state also helps maintain stable product temperature throughout the initial production stages, which is particularly important in sausage and emulsified product manufacturing. Controlled flaking supports consistent protein extraction, stable emulsion formation and uniform texture development in subsequent mixing operations.
The FBF600 meat flaker operates in continuous mode with a 600 mm working width and a reinforced stainless steel frame. A pneumatic feeding system (6–10 bar) provides controlled product loading, an integrated safety system automatically stops the rotor when the lid is opened. The internal geometry and knife angle are designed to direct the product toward the discharge zone, preventing accumulation inside the chamber.
The unit is widely used in meat and sausage production, poultry and fish processing, as well as in confectionery and semi-finished product manufacturing. Interchangeable knife configurations allow adaptation to different raw materials and processing requirements.
