CENTRIFUGES

An industrial centrifuge in the food industry is a device used to separate liquid heterogeneous media using uniformly accelerated rotation, during which the product inside the container is exposed to centrifugal force, which facilitates the separation process itself - separation into individual components.

Centrifuges are systems that represent one of the simplest, most cost-effective and efficient solutions for separating heterogeneous mixtures, immediately after filtering equipment. More complex and expensive systems in this category also include membrane modules, decanters, etc.

Industrial centrifuges can be configured as stand-alone units, as well as built-in systems in complex food processing equipment, such as vacuum fryers.

Centrifuges as stand-alone units are typically used as components of production lines, for example, in the production of soy milk.

The principle of their operation is based on the separation of heterogeneous suspensions, solutions, concentrates based on their density into liquid and solid media. In essence, a centrifuge performs the filtration function, but using centrifugal force.

The main technological goals to consider when selecting a centrifuge include:

  • cleaning
  • extraction
  • filtration
  • drying

Cleaning is most often used in the chemical industry, particularly in the filed of ecology and the recycling of various waste. A popular specialized application of a centrifuge is the leaching of valuable metals from components of old electronics.

Centrifuges for extraction and filtration are used to obtain an extract from various suspensions and emulsions, for example, in the production of coffee, mushroom and other extracts.

Centrifuges used as filtering units are utilized where it is necessary to separate a heterogeneous food medium into liquid and solid components, such as in the production of herbal drinks from a plant base.

The principle of operation of a centrifuge as a built-in system is used to remove excess water or fat, for example, in salad, herb, and vegetable dryers, or in industrial batch fryers to achieve a low-fat product after frying. This system is used in all of our vacuum fryers and onion fryers.

Centrifuges can be classified by design into horizontal and vertical types based on the orientation of the working basket / drum.

Typically, in smaller units, centrifuges have top loading and a horizontal drum with bottom unloading.

You can choose a centrifuge not only for use in the food industry but also in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and other industries.

Used for blanching products in water, it is suitable for processing various vegetables, legumes, grains, mushrooms and other products. This versatile machine also functions as a water separator centrifuge which is activated after the blanching processes.
